CONCERT IS THIS SUNDAY

I havent written in a while, as life has been pretty crazy. Things are moving along in Haiti and God is providing slowly but surely for the needs of the people.

This weekend is going to be an excellent opportunity to create more awareness for the ongoing need.

Please keep Pastor Kelly and the crew in Haiti in prayer as this is something they ive on a daily basis. My hope and prayer is that we will be able to finish up the necessary classrooms by the end of the year.

Gods blessing to each of you, see you at the concert

Update form Pastor Kelly Fluery

Got an email from Pastor Kelly today. Here is his response to the fundraiser and an update on the progress at the mission:

Pastor Joel,

This is obviously great news for me personally. The children will be soon out of the open field and be inside of a classroom eventually. We will take pics for you when the room is complete.

Please thank the cheerful givers for me whenever you have an opportunity.

So far we are halfway done with the boys orphanage. The girls are still living in the wooden structure. There will be a medical team from NC for healthfair. An organization called Christian aid ministry, who is helping with medicines, promises to help rebuilding the medical clinic which collapsed on the 12th of Jan. 2010.

The security walls are yet to be erected. We need walls in Haiti since it's so dark. There is no specific amount to start with. You may send what you have for now so we may start the foundation and buying blocs to lay. We want to give the students some hope.

We are not where we were supposed to be because of the monster earthquake. I am confident that with the help of concerned individuals, with a heart for Haiti like you, we will get t

here. Our goal is to rebuild. We need your prayers for this dream to be materialized. Please continue to talk to your pastors' friends and see if they may be a part of this work.

I am about to send you an article wrote about us by a paper in McComb Mississippi. Please review it and maybe you can put it on your bulletin board. It has my picture on it.

Here is the address in case you want to mail what you have for now:

2328 Lewis Rd

West Palm Beach, Fl. 33415

Many blessings:

Kelly

Birthday Fundraiser

Tonight was amazing, having a ton of friends show up to celebrate and show their generosity to classrooms for haiti was incredible.

We raised $829.00.

With the money raised from OVC being around $400 we are over half way to having one of the classrooms built.

Classrooms for Haiti: Brief History

I just wanted to share a quickstory of this project. This mission was started by God's call on the life of a haitian man name Dezman Fleury. His love and commitment to share the love and grace of Jesus with his people led to the start of an Orphanage, Medical Clinic, School, Church and small Bakery to provide food and income for the ministry. Tragically Dezman Fleury was killed while serving. His brother Kelly then took up the mantle and begin to carry on the work and the Lord blessed.
On January 12th of 2010 the Earthquake completely destroyed everything (a few pictures 2 posts below). The quake not only destroyed their everything it also magnified the need to minister
people around.

Last July a group of my friends were able to go and spend a week serving and loving on the people and serving with Pastor Kelly. Although I was not able to go, through the stories and life change of my friends I felt a deep connection and call to partner with this mission.

My friend J.R. Robertson introduced me to Pastor Kelly and I felt an immediate kinship with Pastor Kelly and have begun regular communication and made a personal commitment to do
whatever I could to support, bless and be a part of what God is going to do through this devastation.

My recent passion for this project actually came through a moment of selfishness. with my 40th birthday approaching and my wife throwing me a birthday celebration I found myself thinking about what gifts I would like to receive. I was given a reality check
and kick to the stomach when Pastor
Kelly called to check in and as he told me of the kids who were not able to meet for school in the tents that people generously provided because the heat and humidity made being inside them unbearable. He told me of of the ministry workers trying to teach the children and the only shelter was under a tree.

My thoughts of electronics and gift cards was replaced with a burning desire to help these kids. I asked Kelly what it would take to get a classroom built back in December, the cost for a classroom to both house, and provide a teaching place for these kids is $2050. He also has shared that he desires more that people come and love on the people there. I cant wait to go.

Pastor Kelly desperateness is now beating in my heart and I am now passionately and aggressively seeking to connect people who are passionate about sharing their blessings from the Lord with people in need.

People who are interested can do several things: 1. Pray for Pastor Kelly and the Dezman Fleury Foundation. 2. Donate to the classrooms for Haiti cause. 3. Begin to think about taking a trip to Haiti to share God's love with the people there.

-today is my birthday (I am shamelessly making a plea for a birthday present- help me build a classroom.

I'll end with this:
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. Matthew 25:35."
Lets build Jesus a Classroom :)

(Thanks Jerrod, Melanie, and JR for inspiring me.)

Help me build a Classroom in Haiti for my Birthday

This week I am turning the big 4-O. My wife is throwing me a Birthday Party at Cappella Coffee House in Exeter, Thursday night January 20th from 6-8. You are Invited.

Here's the deal- I am asking that NO one brings me a present or even a card. If you were planning on getting me a card, a gift, or that new iphone I have been dreaming about, as much as I am grateful I would ask that you instead use those funds to help me build a classroom in Haiti.

For about $2050 we can build a classroom for kids who have been living and learning in tents for the last year since basically the entire mission was destroyed by the earthquake. The tents are also not working very well because of the heat and humidity and the mission is desperate for some rooms for medical attention and classrooms for the kids.
For more info on this ministry check out fleuryfoundation.org. A little more about the organization and the need is listed in post below.

So come celebrate that I am officially an old man, come hear some great music from my friends the Gospel Whiskey Runners, and help me build a classroom.

If you don't live anywhere near Exeter California, and would like to help, you can click the donation button on the side or you can send a check to:
Orange Valley Church
PO Box 1060
Exeter, CA 93221

Thanks for making the big 4-ohh special :)
